Status Update

Wow, it's be awhile since I blogged. To catch you up:
We leased a house in Granbury, on the lake :)
We sold our house in Abilene, still closing that deal.
I ran a 10K here in Granbury March 21st, certified course, and got a new PR 52:31
And this last weekend ran a 10K in Austin, the Capital 10K, in 53:12.

Needless to say I have not had much time to blog.

My new coach is awesome, I am doing cross training like never before and feeling very strong. I believe that and losing about 4 pounds has made me faster. Here in Granbury each run has some nice hills...if you can call hills nice! That should help me get stronger as well if it doesn't kill me beforehand.

We are finding a running community here, they are not really an organized community but there are quite a few runners, different groups meeting at different times for different reasons. They all seem very nice and we are looking forward to getting involved. We also plan to go to Fort Worth and run with the club there.

We also joined the YMCA. It's much smaller than the Y in Abilene but they have some awesome Yoga classes. Terry even went with me last week to do Power Yoga which was a "hot" yoga class where they turn up the heat to 90. I am gaining a lot of strength from these classes and enjoy the people. I guess we are acclimating to our environment.

Living on the lake is going to be fun. We just need to get past the house and all we want to do with it so we can enjoy the water. It hasn't been warm lately so it has been pretty easy to stay in and get some things done but I am ready to live in running clothes and a bikini!

I am tired today, ran the Capital 10K yesterday and then waited on Terry and Tanner to drive in after fishing on the Colorado River so we didn't get back from Austin until about midnight. And now I have to work and get more done on the house. I'm exhausted

No time No write

It's been awhile. Life gets busy.

But I do have to mention the Cowtown Half Marathon. It was on the 28th of February, the day was cold and windy. Of course we all know how much I just LOVE the wind. The first two miles were running north right into the wind and the wind chill was frigid.

The course was also full of rolling hills, something I had not prepared for, one after another. And for 3 miles we ran on bricks. Not the best of conditions.

Maybe that is what makes it so special. I ran my 3rd best time for a half marathon! And all of this after such a horrible marathon in November and this nagging knee injury. I am feeling so strong and I love it.

The course also wound through some beautiful areas of Fort Worth, I had no idea that there were such beautiful neighborhoods! And the residents were wonderful, coming out to cheer while drinking their coffee next to fire pits and chimineas.

Since then we have leased a house in Granbury and will be moving next week. The next couple or three weeks will be very busy. My plan was to run the Granbury 10K in record time but it looks like it is not to be, it's just to hard to keep up the hard work while trying to get moved. Stress can really have an affect on your body and I do not want to be injured again. So my plan is to go into it relaxed and feeling good and then if I feel good push it for the last 3 miles. I should have no problem getting in about 57 or so, but under 55 would be wonderful!

This new coach has been so good for me. The cross training is just so amazing, it is wonderful and I look forward to continuing when we move. I am hoping to get a kayak and using it for upper body workouts. I'm also thinking that I may want to do some open water swimming for which I will need a coach. It's different from swimming in the pool, but would really help me when I go to do a triathlon next year.

I'll work on posting more often ;)
